In November 2024, the band went into the studio with producer Carl Bown (Bring Me the Horizon, Sleep Token) to work on their eighth album.

In a recent interview with Rock Sound, vocalist and guitarist Matt Tuck shared some details. According to him, the band is planning 13 tracks for the upcoming release, but none of them are finished yet. "We have 13 tracks - that's a huge amount of material, and there's still a long way to go," he explained. "None of them have final melodies or vocal parts yet." "Right now we're just playing guitars, experimenting with settings and looking for new sounds. We worked the same way on the previous album," the musician added.

"We don't set out to write a certain way," Tuck continued. "Instead, we try different tunings, change amps - all these little details that force the brain to work in new ways." "Sometimes the same riff sounds so much more powerful in a different tuning, and that's inspiring. It can take six months, it can take a year. We've started this journey, and it will end when the time is right," the frontman emphasized.

When asked if The Poison had any influence on the direction of the new album, Tuck said the question had come up before recording began. "The Poison, its sound and that whole era, is a huge part of our history," he explained. "That album was a pivotal one not only for us, but for the metal scene, especially the British metal scene." "We were in the right place at the right time, part of a movement with Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage and others. It was a real new generation of heavy metal, and we were at the forefront of it. But over time, you grow, you change, you want to experiment and try new things. We never really went back to the old sound, but seeing the reaction during the Poison tour, you can't help but wonder: should we touch on this style again?" Tuck added.

"It's a tough question," the musician continued. "I already have an idea in my head of where we want to go next, but it still makes us think: What if?" "Whatever we decide, the result will be cool. We won't release anything that we are not 100% sure of," he concluded.

The band are currently on a tour to celebrate The Poison's upcoming 20th anniversary, performing alongside Trivium, who are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their Ascendancy album.
